In college, Samantha majored in Sociology with a minor in Legal Studies where she graduated summa cum laude.
During law school, Samantha spent her time developing her advocacy skills every moment she could get. She started by competing in the Board of Barristers Mock Trial and Negotiation competitions hosted by her law school during her 1L year. After her first year of law school, she then spent part of her summer becoming a trained mediator led by the Lubbock Dispute Resolution Center and continued to mediate local cases during her second and third year of law school. Next, Samantha was selected to compete on four national mock trial teams over the course of her 2 and 3L year. Most notably, Samantha won an award for Best Closing Argument during the 2023 Texas American Board of Trial Advocates Best In Voir Dire competition. As a 3L, Samantha also received the J. Hadley Edgar Trial Excellence Award as reflection of her dedication and skill to trial advocacy.
When Samantha wasn’t reading for class or in mock trial practice, she still made sure to give back to her Lubbock community. As a 2L, Samantha was selected to be a part of the Pro Bono Board of Student Directors as a reflection to her commitment to volunteering in her community and motivating others to do the same. She was also a volunteer for the DREAM Resource Center, where she and others assisted Texas Tech University students with immigration issues. As a 3L, Samantha was selected to join the immersive Criminal Defense Clinic where she represented indigent criminal defendants of offenses ranging from Class B Misdemeanors to Second Degree Felonies in Lubbock County.
